Christmas Craft for Children and Adults

This is a great Christmas decoration craft that is just so cute! It is suitable for children as young as five, fun, inexpensive and festive. These snowmen ornaments will fit perfectly on to your Christmas tree or can be used as Christmas gift tags. This is an ideal Christmas craft for children and adults.

The first step you need to take in making your Christmas snowmen craft is to gather the materials. Nothing fancy is required and you can miss and match colours, so it is perfect for those small felt pieces that you want to do something with. You will need the following items: large craft sticks, small twigs from your garden, black and white acrylic paints, orange tooth picks, felt in a variety of festive colours, glittery chenille sticks, shiny or sparkly pom poms, black craft foam, small buttons or sequins, ribbon, hot glue gun, thin felt tipped marker and scissors.

Once you have placed all your materials on your crafting table it is time to prepare the individual pieces. First you will want to paint the craft sticks white and set them aside to dry. Once that is done take your twigs and break them into three inch long pieces, making two per snowman. Stick the twigs or what is now known as the snowmens arms safely aside while you create the noses. To make the snowmen ornament noses you will need the orange toothpicks. Cut one inch pieces off the end of the toothpick one per snowman. When you have completed the noses decide how many of your snowmen you want to have hats and how many you want to have earmuffs. Then take the black craft foam and cut out the required number of hats.

After you have created your Christmas snowmens individual pieces it is time to begin putting it all together. First you will want to create the snowmans face, for this you have two options. You can take the wrong end of a paintbrush, dip it in black paint and make dots on the craft stick to form the eyes and the mouth or you can make the dots with a marker. After you have created the snowmans face it is time to give him his nose. To do this simple take an orange toothpick piece and glue it to the craft stick between the eyes and mouth.

The next step is the snowman ornaments scarf; here you have some room to add your own touches. Choose a colour from your supply of felt and cut out a scarf. You will want ensure it is long enough to wrap around the craft stick and form into your preferred shape. For example you can simply let the scarf hang down or you can pull it out sideways and glue the ends together so it looks as if the snowmans scarf is blowing in the wind. You can even cut some fringe into the end of the scarf.

When you completed the Christmas snowmans scarf move on to his headgear. For this you can either give him a hat or earmuffs. If you are giving your snowman a hat simply take one of the hats you have cut out and glue it to his head (the top of the craft stick). If you would rather give your snowman craft ornament earmuffs begin by cutting a piece of chenille stick that will fit around the top of the craft stick and then glue it in place. Following that glue one pom pom to each side of the snowmans head to form the muffs.

After your Christmas snowman has a warm head you will want to make sure he is all buttoned up! To do this use two or three buttons or pieces of sequins, glue them to the body of your snowman. Voila he has a coat!

Now it will be time for the finishing touches. Cut a piece of ribbon between 8 and 10 inches long. Next fold the ribbon in half and glue it to the back of your snowmans head. This creates the hanger. After the hanger is completed finish your snowman off by gluing the twigs to the body giving him arms and then set him aside to dry.

These snowmen are a super cute Christmas decoration craft that you and your children will enjoy. They can be hung on the Christmas tree or used as gift tags. To use them as gift tags simply write the name of the recipient on the back of the snowman and attach it to the gift. Another suggestion for this Christmas decoration craft is using fabric instead of felt for the snowmans scarf. These can add some real character to your snowmen with striped, poka dots, or Christmas patterns. There is no doubt you will enjoy this family Christmas craft.
