The Top Gifts for Young Boys

Everyone knows that gift giving can be hard, especially for children. Luckily for you, I know what the hot toys for 2006 are going to be and the top five for boys age 6-8 are listed here. Just make sure you get them before they are gone!

First up is the Pirates of the Caribbean 2: Black Pearl Electronic Pirate Ship Playset by Zizzle. The Pirate Ship Playset is based on the Black Pearl Pirate Ship from the Pirates of the Caribbean 2 - Dead Man's Chest movie. With four areas of play, sound effects, LED, phrases based on the movie, and tons of accessories, it offers endless hours of play, imagination, and possibilities. It is designed for use with 3.75 pirate action figures which are sold separately (but retail for only $7.99), and some of the characters from the movie that are available for purchase just happen to be this size! The Pirates of the Caribbean 2: Black Pearl Electronic Pirate Ship Playset retails for $44.99, is available online and at most major retail stores, and is recommended for ages 6 to 10.

The SpongeBob Electronic Pinball Machine by FunRise is up next. SpongeBob is one of the character crazes among children right now (and probably will remain so for quite a while longer) and now he has a pinball machine. The SpongeBob Electronic Pinball Machine offers hours of fun with lights, bumpers, ramps, spinners, and LED electronic scoring. It offers easy portability and storage with removable legs (also for tabletop use), and is one or two player capable. The SpongeBob Electronic Pinball Machine is available online and in most major retail stores, retails for $99.99, and is recommended for ages 15 to 12.

Next on the list is the Speed Stacks Set (either yellow or red) by Play Along. Speed stacking is another one of the crazes right now and every little kid has to have one. Speed stacking has become so popular that over 10,000 schools have introduced it into their P.E. classes. The Speed Stacks Set includes everything your little boy needs to get in on the action; 12 competition-grade cups, instructional DVD, StackMat, electronic timer, and a sport carrying bag are all included. Your young boy can stack against the clock and try and improve his time or compete against friends. The recommended age for the Speed Stacks Set is 4 years and up (definitely appropriate for older children), it retails for $39.99, and can be found online and in most major retail stores.

Now it is time for the V.Flash: CD System by Vtech. This game system is like a V.Smile for older children. It includes things such as streaming video, MP3 quality sound, 3-D graphics, and real life images, all without the worries of other gaming systems. Each V.Disc software title is fun and educational and is incased in a protective shield to ward off scratches and fingerprints. Your young boy is sure to have a blast while navigating through multiple areas of play, knowledge, and creative zones. It even comes with a V.Disc to start off the collection. The recommended age group for the V.Flash CD System is 6 years and up and it retails for $99.99 (the V.Discs retail for $29.99). You can find the V.Flash online and at most major retail stores.

Last on the list is the Miuchiz Electronic Handheld Game: Monsterz (anyone of the Monsterz collection) by MGA Entertainment. The recommended age group for this toy is 6-10 years, and it retails for only $29.99. Monsterz is an intelligent virtual companion made especially for boys for battling and brawling galore. You can plug the game into your computer for added fun and communicate with the Miuchiz community. Monsterz also has other capabilities like playing games with friends, chatting, gift giving, and cool downloads (to name a few). Each handheld game has a full color screen, motion sensors, and touch screen response. Other accessories included with the game are a USB cable, IR sensor, and joy pad. You can find Monsterz online and at most major retail stores.

Keep in mind that some of the top toys for your young boy may still be on preorder but they will be available in stores shortly and you can preorder them at stores or online. With great toys that are both fun and educational your young boy is sure to have a ball this Christmas!
